Megan Lemak is an experienced Counsellor, with a clinical career that has spanned 13 years focusing on children, adolescents and families in Chatham-Kent. In the last few years, she has expanded to working with couples as well as men and women seeking individual counselling. Historically, Megan’s clinical focus has been trauma, grief and loss. Depression, anxiety, attachment and familial conflict have also been themes addressed in counselling while clients experience transitions throughout life.
Megan earned her B.A. in Psychology from George Mason University in 1993 and her Masters of Social Work from Wayne State University in 2005. She is a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
Megan's philosophy centres on utilizing a strength-based multi-disciplinary approach in order to fit clients’ needs. Megan believes that it is a privilege to journey with a client as they explore their spiritual and emotional health. While at Wayne State University, Megan’s area of concentration was Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, but she also provides clinical interventions using various therapeutic models including Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Mindfulness and art techniques are utilized as well. She strives to develop an integrated approach with clients and their families in order to help them reach their treatment goals.
Megan was raised in the United States of America in multiple States, but also spent her childhood living overseas in various countries including Germany and India. She met her husband in Chicago, Illinois and relocated to Chatham, Ontario in 2002. Since 2005, they have been blessed with three children and remain focused on helping them utilize their strengths in order to pursue their dreams.
